Our Story

Dusty Road Candle Co. started in 2021 in my farmhouse kitchen with a handful of scents, a whole lot of testing and a crazy little idea that maybe I could turn something I loved into something more. There were plenty of failed batches, changed jars, re-tested scents and moments where I wondered what the heck I was doing 😂… but I kept going.

I’ve always loved candles, but I wanted to make ones that I was actually proud to burn in my own home, clean-burning soy candles with amazing scents that fill a room and make it feel a little more like home.

What started at my kitchen table eventually grew into my little retail shop in Neustadt, Ontario. Today you’ll find shelves filled with jar candles, wax melts, doughbowls, room sprays, custom refills and plenty of other goodies — with new scents and ideas constantly making their way into the shop.

Behind all of it is me, Laura. I’m still very much a one-woman show... pouring candles, packing orders, running the shop, heading to markets and doing all the things that come with owning a small business. These days I’m also doing it all as a single mama to my little girl, Briar, who has quickly become my favourite little sidekick. 🤍 You’ll even see a little bit of her woven into Dusty Road along the way.

I’m a country girl at heart, an animal lover, happiest outdoors, and someone who still can’t quite believe this crazy little idea turned into what it has.

Every candle you take home, every order you place, every share, comment and visit to my little shop helps me keep doing something I truly love, while building a life for my little girl and me.
